You've been working at Eat2Gather for over 4 months now. What are you most proud of?
In the past four months at Eat2Gather, I have learned an incredible amount. From the finer points of event organization to working with different teams and suppliers. What makes me proud is that I notice my strength in dealing with people and keeping an overview is already helping me achieve great results. Thanks to my organizational skills, I've been able to contribute to several events, from preparations to execution, which gives me a lot of energy!
And which event impressed you the most?
Of all the events I've experienced in the past months, one cooking workshop in particular made an impression on me. This was a workshop for 80 people at an external location. It felt like a challenge to build the location from scratch, keep an overview, and manage everything smoothly. Additionally, we worked with a larger team, which made it extra fun to see how everyone collaborates and complements each other. It gave me a lot of energy to experience that we could successfully pull off such a large event together.
Which culinary outing from Eat2Gather do you like the most?
It's hard to choose a favorite culinary outing because I haven't experienced all the outings myself yet. If I have to choose now, I would go for the Italian cooking workshop because I love Italian cuisine. Additionally, I also love the walks with tastings; you're outside, discovering different places in the city, and you also get beautiful stories about the history. A perfect combination of culinary experience and fun!
What is your favorite restaurant?
Choosing my favorite restaurant is difficult because there are so many delicious places in Amsterdam. If I have to name a few favorites, they are Toscanini, Trees, Cantine de Caron, and De Zingende Zwaan. Each one is a place where you can eat deliciously, and the atmosphere is just as good as the food itself.
What is your favorite cookbook?
I hardly use cookbooks because nowadays I find almost everything I need via social media. If I do pick up a cookbook, it's often one by Ottolenghi; his recipes and flavor combinations inspire me every time.
What is your favorite terrace?
My favorite terraces are De Neef van Fred and Café Thuys. These are actually my regular go-to spots in the neighborhood for a nice drink.
The best sandwich?
I most love getting a sandwich at JWO Lekkernijen. The service is always top-notch, and there's a great atmosphere in the shop. Moreover, the selection is huge, and you can also buy other delicious delicacies there.
What is your favorite dessert?
I'm not really a huge sweet tooth, but if affogato is on the menu, I find it hard to resist. Additionally, I'm a big fan of a good cheese platter as a dessert; that really makes me happy.
Are you a good cook?
I really love cooking; for me, it's a moment of relaxation. I prefer to cook for my friends and family, and I usually don't get any complaints. So I think I can be quite satisfied with my cooking skills.
Caviar or croquette?
I would choose a croquette. I love good food, but I prefer to enjoy it in a more rustic way than high-end dining. If there's an original variation of the classic croquette on the menu, I can certainly enjoy it.
Favorite drink?
You make me happiest with a good glass of wine or a nice bubbly. If I go for a cocktail, I almost always choose a Moscow Mule.
What can you be woken up for at night?
Spaghetti vongole
What do you always have in your fridge?
Always something to add a bit of spice to the dish, like red pepper, chili flakes, or sriracha.
Would still like to eat at:
I've been hearing a lot of good stories about restaurant Troef lately, and I'd like to eat there sometime soon. Additionally, an omakase experience at Ken Sushi is high on my list.
