Clove

Cloves are the dried, nearly mature flower buds of the clove tree. It has a strong spicy aroma and flavor, and is quite quickly overpowering – but a great flavor enhancer! The spice goes well in stews, game, herbal drinks, and red cabbage. In Dutch cuisine, ground clove is also used in cookies and cakes.
Tip! Don't lose your cloves during cooking by putting them in a tea infuser or sticking them into a piece of orange peel.
Did you know that a Chinese emperor required his officials to chew on a clove before coming to an audience to prevent bad breath.
