Wasabi nuts

Eat 2 gather background

Wasabi nuts are peanuts with a crunchy, wasabi-flavored coating. Wasabi originally comes from Japan and is made from the rhizome of the asabia japonica root. Real wasabi is expensive and difficult to store, which is why most sushi restaurants use a mix of horseradish, radish, mustard, and greens.

Did-you-know: it takes between 18 – 24 months for the roots of the Asabia Japonica to grow large enough to be harvested for making wasabi.
